FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, securing a thrilling a come-from-behind 3-2 victory. Freshman outside hitter
Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) tied the single-match program record with 28 kills, helping the Rams improve to 13-7 overall and 7-2 in Skyline Conference play.
Farmingdale State dropped the opening set, 25-15, but responded with a 25-20 win the second. The third set saw the Bears (12-10, 5-5 Skyline) take a 25-20 decision, putting the Rams down 2-1 in the match.
In the fourth set, the Rams jumped out to a 5-1 advantage behind a trio of kills by Russo and one from
Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.). St. Joseph's-Brooklyn fought back to tie the score at 17-17 before five straight points by FSC put them in front, 22-17. Farmingdale State would take the set 25-19 as they forced the decisive fifth set.
The fifth set began with the Bears taking the first point, but the Rams quickly countered with seven unanswered points, including five kills by Russo, to give them a six-point advantage. St. Joe's-Brooklyn rallied to tie the score at 13-13, but two more kills by Russo clinched the set, 15-13, and the match, 3-2.
In addition to her 28 kills, Russo produced 13 digs and three assists in the win. Junior middle blocker
Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.) had seven kills and a block for the Rams, while sophomore middle
Stephanie Nemecek (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded five kills.

Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied 31 assists, four aces, two kills and 13 digs and sophomore
Doly DeJesus (Geneva, N.Y.) also registered a double-double with 14 digs and 11 assists. Keegan finished with a team-high 22 digs, to go with five kills, and senior libero
Lana Ventura (Port Washington, N.Y.) added 13 digs in the victory.
St. Joseph's-Brooklyn junior Taylor Knight produced 31 kills and a .306 attacking percentage in the loss.
FSC will next travel to Sarah Lawrence College for a Skyline match on Tuesday, November 5th at 7:00 p.m.
