No. 9 Washington and Lee 3, Farmingdale State 0
LEXINGTON, Va. | The Farmingdale State College women's soccer team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, as the Rams dropped a 3-0 decision to ninth-ranked host Washington and Lee University.

The Generals (19-1-1) received a pair of first-half goals from Megan Zimmerman, as she headed home a back-post cross in the 14th minute of play and found the bottom-left corner after collecting an intercepted clearance less than four minutes later.

FSC (11-8-4) looked to level in the 22nd minute of action, when junior striker Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) turned on her defender in the middle of the park, but saw her looping 35-yard effort saved in the left-hand corner by WLU keeper Abby Groff.

Washington and Lee extended its lead in the 64th minute of play, as Sarah Zimmerman went in alone on Farmingdale State junior netminder Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.) on a through ball down the middle, and finished to the right-hand side to put her side up 3-0.

The Rams nearly scored in the 73rd minute, as senior Maddy Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.) sent a 40-yard free kick towards the top-middle of the net – forcing Groff to tip the shot over the crossbar.

Stork made five saves in goal for Farmingdale State, which captured its 14th Skyline Conference championship this fall.
