Women's Soccer Powers Past Mount Saint Mary

Farmingdale State 2, Mount Saint Mary 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Goals by freshman Rachel McAuliff (Sayville, N.Y.) and sophomore Stephanie Alberghine (Medford, N.Y.) on either side of halftime lifted the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team to a 2-0, Skyline Conference victory over Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday night.

McAuliff gave the host Rams (5-6-3, 4-0-2 Skyline) all the scoring it would need less than seven minutes before the break, when she was sent in alone on goal off a central through ball by junior Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.). The freshman beat the Knights' (4-6-3, 3-3-1) goalie from 16 yards away into the lower-right corner for her seventh goal of the season, as Farmingdale State went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

Alberghine doubled the FSC advantage just 2:07 after the interval, after Rivera saw her shot from inside the six-yard box saved by the Mount Saint Mary keeper. The rebound found Alberghine all alone at the left-hand post, who calmly slotted home her first goal of the campaign.

Farmingdale State held a 27-3 shot advantage on the evening (13-1 on target), as well as a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Rams junior keeper Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.) made one save in her 2024 debut to earn the clean sheet.

FSC is back in Skyline action at home on Saturday, when it plays host to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in a noontime kickoff.
