Women's Tennis Rolls Over Purchase in Skyline Semifinal

2024 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship - Semifinal
(2) Farmingdale State 4, (3) Purchase 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Second-seeded Farmingdale State College delivered a 4-0 victory over No. 3 Purchase College in the semifinal round of the 2024 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, FSC (11-5) advances to Saturday's (Nov. 2) championship final, where it will play at noon at top-seeded Manhattanville University – which defeated Yeshiva in Wednesday's other semifinal tilt.

The Rams took both doubles matches from the Panthers (8-6) by identical 6-0 scores, including the top-flight, all-conference tandem of sophomore Natalia Furchel (Manorville, N.Y.) and junior Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) knocking off Amelia Perlmutter and Olivia Menchell. At nearly the same time, FSC's No. 2 pair of senior and Skyline Player of the Year Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and junior Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.) closed out the team doubles point with its shutout over Purchase's Emma Arnaud and Novalie Nguyen.

FSC then notched three straight-set singles wins to advance to Saturday's championship final. Loria was first into the scorebook with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the fifth flight versus Sierra Blanco, before Furchel's 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 2 against Menchell left the hosts one win away from advancing. From there, it was junior and three-time All-Skyline selection MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) who closed the contest out, as she picked up a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the fourth flight against Nguyen.
