Women's Soccer Cruises Past Yeshiva, Locks Up First-Round Bye in Skyline Championship

Farmingdale State 9, Yeshiva 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's soccer team wrapped up regular-season Skyline Conference play Wednesday versus Yeshiva University, capturing a 9-0 victory.

With the win, the Rams (9-7-4, 8-0-3 Skyline) remained the only undefeated team in the Skyline and clinched the No. 2 seed for the upcoming, six-team Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Championship. FSC has earned a first-round bye, and will play host to a semifinal next Wednesday (Nov. 6), at a time and against an opponent to be determined. The championship field and bracket is scheduled to be announced later Wednesday evening.

Farmingdale State's defense extended its shutout streak against Skyline foes to 891:19 after posting the clean sheet versus the Maccabees (0-13, 0-11). Freshman keeper Sam Richards (Ellicott City, Md.) played the full 90 minutes in the FSC net to earn her first full clean sheet of the season, and her third shutout involvement overall.

On offense, seven different Rams found the back of the net, led by a hat trick and one assist from sophomore forward Kayla Mendez (Staten Island, N.Y.). Sophomore winger Stephanie Alberghine (Medford, N.Y.) registered a goal and two assists, with senior Alexandra Getfield (West Islip, N.Y.) adding one goal and one assist. Freshman midfielder Abigail Chest (Johnstown, N.Y.) dished out two assists in the middle of the field, while single goal scorers for the home side included junior Abigail Borra (Syosset, N.Y.), freshman Bianca Ferraro (Massapequa, N.Y.), and sophomores Julia Rebich (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Ava Lanza (East Meadow, N.Y.).
