Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match to WestConn

Western Connecticut - 3, Farmingdale State - 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15)
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted non-conference opponent Western Connecticut State on Tuesday evening and fell in three sets. FSC now sits at 1-3 overall, while the Wolves improved to 3-3.

The Rams came out quick in the first set as they took a 13-9 advantage behind kills from middle blockers Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) and Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) as well as freshman outside Doly DeJesus (Geneva, N.Y.). WestConn responded with an 8-1 run to jump ahead 17-14 and eventually took the set 25-19.

The Wolves captured the second set 25-19 before clinching the win with a 25-15 decision in the third.

Ricketts recorded a match-high 10 kills for Farmingdale State, while Profeta had two kills, one service ace and a block assist. Freshman setter Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 14 assists, three digs and one ace.

For WestConn, Julia Stoliker (9), Taylor Rohan (8) and Helen Megson (7) combined for 24 kills, while Olivia Monteleone had 27 assists.

Farmingdale State next travels to play Hunter College in a non-conference match on Thursday, September 14th at 6:00 p.m.
