Catholic - 2, Farmingdale State - 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Visiting Catholic University of America tallied a pair of second-half goals Friday night, as the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team fell to the Cardinals by a 2-0 margin in the season opener for both sides.
The Cardinals opened the scoring just over three minutes into the second half, when Payton Coron turned at the top of the penalty area following a cross-box pass from Emily Longenderfer and found the top-right corner to put her side in front. Coron added her second of the night just over 10 minutes before full time, after she was sent in alone by Faith Sawyer on a diagonal pass into the area to double Catholic's lead.
FSC sophomore keeper
Gabby Pinero (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made four first-half saves for the hosts, while classmate
Kelsie Feingold (Hauppauge, N.Y.) turned aside two shots in the second half.
Head coach Chris Roche's Rams are back on the field Tuesday night, when they open Skyline Conference play at Yeshiva University from Joseph F. Fosina Field in New Rochelle, N.Y.
