Mount Saint Mary - 2; Farmingdale State - 0
NEWBURGH, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's soccer team held advantages of 7-3 in shots on target and 5-3 in corner kicks Wednesday night, but were unable to take advantage in its Skyline Conference match at Mount Saint Mary College, as the host Knights captured a 2-0 decision.
FSC (4-6-2, 3-1-1 Skyline) put three shots on frame in the opening 25 minutes of play against MSMC (2-6-3, 2-0-3), which opened the scoring in the 35th minute on a goal by Lily Tanko.
The Rams continued to pressure the hosts in the second half, holding a 6-3 shots edge during the stanza and forcing four saves out of the Knights' keeper. Against the run of play, Mount Saint Mary added an insurance tally eight-plus minutes before the final whistle.
Six different Farmingdale State players put shots on goal on the evening, including a pair by sophomore striker
Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.), while classmate
Kelsie Feingold (Commack, N.Y.) made one save in the Rams' net.
Head coach Chris Roche's FSC squad is back in action at home on Saturday (Oct. 7), when it plays host to Salisbury University in a 2 p.m., non-conference kickoff.
