FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC women's soccer team defeated Maritime College, 3-0, on Tuesday evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. to improve to 7-2-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Rams are now 8-8-2 overall in 2023.
It was Senior Night at FSC and a special pregame ceremony was held for defenders
Michaela Rapisarda (Deer Park, N.Y.) and
Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.).
Farmingdale State opened the scoring early as sophomore forward
Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal after dribbling past a pair of defenders.
FSC made it 2-0 just 3:48 later after Rivera and junior midfielder
Mikayla Spiering (Parker, CO) set up Schenk for her seventh goal of the season.
In the 37th minute, sophomore defender
Gracie Heilbrun (Parker, CO) tallied a goal off a leading pass from Rivera to put the Rams ahead, 3-0.
Farmingdale State held a 14-1 shot advantage through the first 45 minutes of the match.
FSC registered 13 more shots in the second half, including six on net, but were unable to find the back of the net. Maritime attempted just two second half shots as the Rams went on for the 3-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Hailey Stork (North Bellmore, N.Y.) made two saves to earn the shutout. Rivera notched four points on a goal and two assists and now sits in fifth in the Skyline with 26 points on the season.
Maritime goalkeeper Devon Etienne finished with 14 saves in defeat.
The Rams will next complete their regular season schedule with a home match against Purchase College on Thursday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m.
