Rams Drop Skyline Matchup at Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College remained undefeated in the Skyline Conference after a 66-45 win over Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon. The Rams fell to 7-4 overall, 5-2 in the conference, while the Blue Knights improved to 10-2 and a hold a perfect 7-0 Skyline record.

The Rams held an early 15-13 advantage midway through the first half before Mount Saint Mary went on a 16-2 run spanning just over seven minutes. Farmingdale State answered as they closed out the half on an 11-0 run, highlighted by three Juanita Chappel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) layups. The Rams held the Blue Knights to only 28% shooting in the first half and went into the break trailing 29-28.

Mount Saint Mary came out of halftime on a roll and quickly extended the lead to 41-30 which forced a Farmingdale State timeout at the 15:43 mark. The Blue Knights held at least a nine point lead for the rest of the game as they went on for the 66-45 win and remained unbeaten at home this season. 

The Rams were led by sophomore guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y./Roosevelt) who had a team-high 14 points, five steals and four assists. Chappel pitched in with nine points and nine rebounds.

Junior guard Jen Mocanu (Belford, N.J. / Middletown North) scored a game-high 17 points, had six rebounds, six assists and five steals for Mount Saint Mary College.

Farmingdale State next will host Purchase College on Tuesday, January 11th at 6:00 p.m.
