Magee Scores Game-Winner in Overtime

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Corine Magee
(Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) scored the game-winner with 46 seconds
left in overtime to give Farmingdale State (13-4) a non-conference
women's soccer victory over the visiting Stockton Ospreys (8-6-2)
today in Farmingdale, N.Y.
The Rams led 2-1 at the half after a goal from freshman forward
Sarah
Golden (Greenport, N.Y./Greenport), who put home a cross from
sophomore defender Theresa
Martorano (Commack, N.Y./Commack), and an own goal by Stockton
in the 30th minute. Stockton was able to cut the deficit before
halftime when sophomore back Bridget Connolly (Deptford,
N.J./Deptford) took a free kick from the right side and freshman
midfielder Briana Fischer (Brick, N.J./Brick) headed the ball in
for the score.
In the second half, Stockton senior forward Leah Pocoroba
(Galloway, N.J./Holy Spirit) tied the game at 2-2 on a breakaway
goal from the left side. The game remained scoreless over the next
33 minutes and would be won by Magee in OT, with under a minute
remaining.
Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Paul VI)
made 11 saves in defeat for Richard Stockton, while sophomore
goalkeeper Stacey Rao
(Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) made four saves for the win.
Farmingdale State will now face Skyline opponent Old Westbury at
home on Thursday, October 21st at 4:00 p.m. The game will be Senior
Day for Anna-Marie Rivera.
