Farmingdale State - 81, St. Joseph's - 64
Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's
basketball team remained undefeated with an 81-64 victory over St.
Joseph's College (9-7, 6-4) on Thursday night. The Rams improved to
16-0, 10-0 in the Skyline Conference with the win and now face The
Sage Colleges on Saturday, January 23rd at home at 1:00 p.m.
Going into the half at an even 31-31, Farmingdale State shot
just 28-percent in the first twenty minutes, but came out in the
second outscoring the Golden Eagles as they went 52-percent from
the field to surge ahead for their 16th straight victory.
Senior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker)
posted a triple-double with game-highs of 27 points, 15 rebounds
and 10 steals, while also dishing off five assists and blocking
four shots. This was Blakney's third career triple-double, her last
T-D came during her 50-point performance against St. Joseph's on
Feb. 21st, 2009.
Two more Rams reached double digits last night. Senior guard
Kamaya Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) finished with 19 points,
while freshman guard Jeanette Zubizarreta (Bay Shore, N.Y./Calhoun)
scored 12 points.
Four players balanced the St. Joseph's offense, as senior guard
Carissa Pirotta (Northport, N.Y./Northport) led with 14 points,
senior forward Trish McMahon (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford)
and senior guard Corissa Stack (Patchogue, N.Y./Hills West) each
scored 13 points, and sophomore guard Nicole Redding (Smithtown,
N.Y./Smithtown West) had 12 points.
Farmingdale State tips-off tomorrow, Saturday, January 23rd at
1:00 p.m. against the Gators of The Sage Colleges.
