Box Score Rams Keep Perfect Season Alive with Win over Mount Saint

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's
basketball team improved to 13-0, 8-0 in the Skyline Conference
with this afternoon's win over Mount Saint Mary. The Rams are now
in first place in the Skyline.
In a low scoring first half, Farmingdale's senior guard Tiffara
Steward (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) hit a three-pointer off the pass
from Juanita Chappel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street), tieing the game
at 20-20 with 6:54 remaining. Junior forward Jess Tice (Altamont,
N.Y./Guilderland) scored the last eight points of the half for
Mount Saint Mary (11-4, 8-1 Skyline), giving the Blue Knights a
28-24 halftime advantage.
Farmingdale opened the second on a 9-3 run, taking their first
lead since they led 17-15 midway through the first half. A steal
and layup by senior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin
Banneker); put the Rams ahead 49-43 at the 9:40 mark. Sophomore
guard Natalie Garbie (Bayville, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) answered
with a layup for the Blue Knights, before Farmingdale went on a
10-1 run over the next 2:19, opening up the largest lead of the
game at 59-46. The Rams held a double-digit lead throughout the
remainder of the game, handing Mount Saint Mary their first
conference loss of the season.
Blakney led all scorers with 29 points and added 10 rebounds,
five steals and four blocked shots. Senior guard Kamaya Miller
(Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) scored 20 points, shooting 8-for-16 from
the floor and grabbed nine boards.
Mount Saint Mary was led by Tice who had 17 points, eight
rebounds and two steals.
Farmingdale State will host City Tech in a non-conference game
on Monday, January 18th at 7:00 p.m.
