Sean graduated in 2008 from Tottenville High School. He was a2007 track team captain, Staten Island Advance All-Star as well asa 2006-2007 New York State Federation qualifier. He was also nameda First-Team All-Star for the SITFA in 2007. He is the son of Johnand Sharon Tiernan.
