EAST MEADOW, N.Y. | The final round of the Fifth Annual George Cangero Invitational was cancelled due to weather, making Saturday's opening round scores final. Freshman Jacob Andersen (Medford, N.Y.) earned medalist honors in his collegiate debut after carding a one-under-par 71, while Farmingdale State placed second in the 14-team field with a total of 300 (+12), one stroke behind champion North Carolina Wesleyan (299).

Andersen shared the individual lead with Charlie Wiltshire of North Carolina Wesleyan and Zeus Sara of Adelphi, who also posted rounds of 71 (-1). With the medalist honor, Andersen becomes just the third student-athlete in program history to win their first career collegiate tournament, joining Ryan Reed, who captured the 2015 FSC Skyline Invitational at Bethpage State Park's Red Course, and Adam Larkin, who won the 2010 Skidmore Fall Invitational at Saratoga Spa State Park.

Senior Luke O'Grady-Rodgers (Carmel, N.Y.) finished in 11th place with a three-over-par, 75. Junior Rishi Talwar (East Farmingdale, N.Y.) tied for 15th with a 76 (+4), while senior Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y.) and freshman Maxwell Schneider (Prosper, Texas), competing on FSC's B team, each carded a 78 (+6) to tie for 23rd.

Sophomore Philip Connolly (Garden City, N.Y.) and sophomore Mitchel Creamer (Mission Viejo, Calif.), who competed on the Rams' B team, each shot an 80 (+8) to tie for 34th. Freshman Bryce Alexander (Marshall, Texas) rounded out the B team with an 82 (+10) to finish 45th.

The Rams will next compete at the Williams Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20 at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass.
