EAST MEADOW, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's golf team is playing host to the Fifth Annual George Cangero Invitational this weekend at Eisenhower Park's Red Course, and after Saturday's first round of play the Rams sit one shot off the tournament lead after carding a second-place total of 300 (+12) in the 14-team field.

North Carolina Wesleyan paces the field entering Sunday's final round of competition with a score of 299 (+11), with Stevens sitting in third place with its score of 306. Rounding out the top-five team scores are Rensselaer (308) and Hobart (310).

Three individuals sit tied for the lead with a -1 score of 71, including FSC freshman Jacob Andersen (Medford, N.Y.), who notched three of his four birdies in his collegiate debut on the front nine. 

Sitting four shots behind Andersen at +3 and tied for 11th place is Rams senior Luke O'Grady-Rodgers (Carmel, N.Y.), while junior Rishi Talwar (East Farmingdale, N.Y.) played to a round of 76 (+4). Senior Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y.) and sophomore Philip Connolly (Garden City, N.Y.) completed the afternoon with scores of 78 (+6) and 80 (+8), respectively.
