FSC Athletics Update - April 20

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its latest weekly reports on Monday afternoon, and two Farmingdale State College baseball players earned weekly awards, while another three student-athletes received honorable mention praise.

Baseball (13-9, 6-4 Skyline) | Skyline Weekly Report

Farmingdale State earned four Skyline victories over the weekend, sweeping a home doubleheader Saturday from previous Skyline once-beaten St. Joseph's-Long Island, before taking two wins at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday night in a rematch of last year's conference final.

Seniors Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Derek Watts (Baldwin, N.Y.) were selected as the Skyline's Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Heyder batted 8-for-14 (.571) on the weekend with four doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and four runs scored, including a two-run homer in Sunday's nightcap versus the Mariners. Watts finished off all four victories on the mound, posting a 1-0 record with two saves and a 1.80 earned run average – a total which included firing a complete-game one-hitter in Sunday's opening tilt versus USMMA.

The Rams have three Skyline doubleheaders on campus this weekend, including Thursday's 2 p.m. set with Yeshiva, Friday's noontime twinbill against conference-leading Maritime, and Sunday's 11 a.m. pair versus St. Joseph's-Brooklyn – the latter two games are officially the Bears' home games, and FSC will bat first.

Women's Lacrosse (7-8, 6-1 Skyline) | Skyline Weekly Report

The Rams had one game last week, as they defeated Purchase by a 21-1 margin on Wednesday.

Junior Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) collected an honorable mention cite from the Skyline after tying the school's single-game points record (15; four goals, 11 assists) against the Panthers.

FSC travels to St. Joseph's-Long Island for its regular-season finale at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and a win would give the Rams a first-round bye in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship.

Outdoor Track and Field

Farmingdale State prepared for next weekend's Skyline Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships by taking part in Saturday's Battle of Madison Ave. No. 2 meet. The Rams' men's contingent placed third in the field, while the women finished fifth.

Men's competitor Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) won the shot put and hammer throw events, while freshman Christian Destine (Rosedale, N.Y.) topped the field in the long jump and triple jump.

FSC now turns its attention to Sunday's conference championship, which will be hosted at Farmingdale State. The first events of the day are slated to begin at 10 a.m.

Softball (17-11, 10-0 Skyline) | Skyline Weekly Report

The Rams won five of their six games, including all four Skyline match-ups. The team split a road non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at GNAC-leading Albertus Magnus, before it captured Skyline sweeps versus Mount Saint Mary and Yeshiva on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Freshman first baseman Emily Lopez (Miller Place, N.Y.) was tabbed on the Skyline's honorable mention listing, after she went 8-for-14 (.571) at the dish with eight runs scored and her first collegiate home run.

Farmingdale State will play host to NYU in a Wednesday non-conference doubleheader at 3:30 p.m., before facing road Skyline sets Saturday at Old Westbury (1 p.m.) and Sunday at conference co-leader Manhattanville.

Men's Tennis (8-7, 5-1 Skyline) | Skyline Weekly Report

FSC won three of its five matches last week, including a pair of home victories Saturday against Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase in Skyline play. The Rams also defeated non-conference foe Hunter on Wednesday, while dropping a one-point match to conference-leading Manhattanville and losing to 75th-ranked Baruch on Tuesday and Friday, respectively.

The Rams will welcome John Jay for a 4:30 p.m. first serve on Monday, before taking to the road against Sarah Lawrence (Wednesday, 6 p.m.), non-conference foe Western Connecticut (Friday, 3:30 p.m.) and St. Joseph's-Long Island (Saturday, 11 a.m.).

Men's Lacrosse (11-3, 4-1 Skyline) | Skyline Weekly Report

Farmingdale State cruised to two Skyline road wins, earning a 17-1 victory Tuesday at Mount Saint Mary before notching a 16-5 win on the weekend at Manhattanville.

The Rams held the majority of possession in both contests, thanks to its play at the midfield "x" from freshman face-off specialist Fabrice Cormier (Copiague, N.Y.). The rookie received honorable mention accolades from the Skyline after he went 22-of-26 (.846) on face-offs while scooping 12 ground balls.

Regular-season play wraps up with two home games this week, with Farmingdale State playing host to Skyline-leading Maritime on Wednesday night at 6, before playing host to Mount Saint Vincent in a noontime start on Saturday. Against the Dolphins, the Rams will hold Senior Day ceremonies, with the programming getting underway at 11:40 a.m.

Golf

In its final tune-ups before the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship (May 12-15, Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.), the Rams finished second in Thursday's FSC Bethpage Black Invitational, before tying for third place over the weekend at the 36-hole FSC Spring Invitational. On Saturday, Farmingdale State set a school single-round record on Bethpage's Red Course with its team score of 281 (+1).

Women's Tennis (10-5)

Farmingdale State's lone match of the spring season will take place Friday afternoon, when it welcomes Hunter College for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
