Farmingdale State Student-Athletes Give Back Through Community Service Efforts

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Farmingdale State College student-athletes have continued to make a meaningful impact off the field, court, and course through a series of recent community service initiatives.

Men's Lacrosse Partners with LIMLF for Wheelchair Lacrosse Game

For the fourth consecutive year, the FSC men's lacrosse program partnered with the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation (LIMLF) to participate in a wheelchair lacrosse game. The annual event, designed to raise awareness and promote inclusion within the sport, featured the Rams facing off against the Long Island Hammerheads, a local wheelchair lacrosse team sponsored by LIMLF.

The Hammerheads are dedicated to empowering athletes with physical disabilities while showcasing the accessibility and adaptability of lacrosse. Through this continued partnership, FSC and LIMLF aim to expand participation in wheelchair lacrosse across Long Island and further grow the game in an inclusive way. More from the event can be found on the Hammerheads' Instagram page.

Men's Golf Hosts First Tee - Metropolitan New York

The men's golf team hosted the First Tee - Metropolitan New York program to Nold Hall. First Tee focuses on building game changers and empowering kids and teens through the sport of golf. The Rams welcomed more than 35 students and 10 staff members for a day centered around education and inspiration.

Student-athletes and coaches spoke about the college experience, life as a collegiate golfer, and the opportunities available to those interested in pursuing athletics at the next level. The team shared personal stories about dorm life, transferring schools, balancing academics and athletics, and what it means to represent Farmingdale State. The visit also included a tour of the athletics facilities and lunch with the team, giving the students a firsthand look at campus life.

Women's Volleyball Volunteers at St. Peter's By The Sea

The women's volleyball team volunteered at St. Peter's by-the-Sea food pantry in Bay Shore, N.Y., on February 7.

The Rams donated food items and assisted with organizing contributions, labeling items, packing bags, and preparing food packages for distribution to families in need. Their efforts helped ensure the pantry could efficiently serve members of the local community.
