FSC Athletics Fall Update No. 5


NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its fall weekly reports Monday afternoon, and Farmingdale State College freshman golfer Philip Connolly (Garden City, N.Y.) was named the Conference's Player and Rookie of the Week.

Connolly's 2-under-par round of 68 on Monday helped the Rams to finish in second place at The Gauntlet – a two-day event at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa. His individual awards come one week after capturing the Skyline's Rookie of the Week praise.

FSC is back on the course Saturday and Sunday in Loudonville, N.Y., when it takes part in the 36-hole RPI Collegiate Invitational.

Cross Country | Skyline Men's Report | Skyline Women's Report

Farmingdale State returned to the course on Sunday at famed Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, taking part in the Queensborough Invitational. The Rams' men's contingent placed third out of 20 teams, while the women's side finished 16th. Junior Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.) placed 10th in the 8,000-meter men's race with a time of 30:19.5, while freshman women's competitor Amelia Vitale (Hauppauge, N.Y.) registered a 12th-place time of 23:14.2 on the 5k loop.

FSC is next on the course on October 11 (Sat.), when it travels to Newark, N.J., for the NJIT XC Invitational.

Men's Soccer (1-4-2, 0-0-2 Skyline) | Skyline Report

The Rams competed in an exhibition match at Division I Stony Brook last Monday, falling by a 4-0 score. Farmingdale State now embarks on a three-match Skyline Conference week, beginning Monday night at 5 with a home date versus Yeshiva University. It will then play host to Old Westbury at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, before traveling for a noontime kickoff Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent.

Women's Soccer (3-7-1, 2-0 Skyline) | Skyline Report

FSC remained one of two undefeated, untied teams in Skyline action on the early conference season with its 8-0 victory Wednesday night at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, before dropping a 4-0 decision Saturday at NYU – a team receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III Poll.

The Rams face two Skyline foes on the road this week to round out its five-match road trip, as it will play at Old Westbury on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30, before a 3 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent in a rematch of last fall's conference final.

Volleyball (7-5, 0-1 Skyline) | Skyline Report

Farmingdale State lost a pair of four-set tilts, falling in its Skyline opener Tuesday at defending champion Manhattanville, as well as Friday versus Emmanuel (Mass.) in a match played at Hofstra University.

Two conference matches dot the Rams' slate this week, beginning with a 6 p.m. first serve Monday night versus St. Joseph's-Long Island, as well as a Thursday, 6 p.m. road match at SUNY Old Westbury.

Women's Tennis (2-4, 1-0 Skyline) | Skyline Report

FSC was off last week, and will welcome Baruch on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. first serve in the team's final non-conference match of the fall season, before opening its Skyline title defense on the road at St. Joseph's-Long Island, Saturday morning at 11.
