FSC Athletics Fall Update No. 4


NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its fall weekly reports Monday afternoon, and three student-athletes from Farmingdale State College took home weekly awards.

Golf | Skyline Report

The Rams entered Monday's second and final round of The Gauntlet competition in Lewisburg, Pa., in third place (291, 3-over par) and just four shots behind leaders Drew University. 

Junior Luke O'Grady-Rodgers (Carmel, N.Y.) shot an even-par 70 on Sunday to earn the Skyline's Player of the Week honor, while freshman Philip Connolly (Garden City, N.Y.) copped Rookie of the Week kudos with his 1-over round of 71.

Following Monday's conclusion of The Gauntlet, FSC is off until the two-day RPI Collegiate Invitational (Loudonville, N.Y.), Oct. 5-6.

Women's Tennis (2-4, 1-0 Skyline) | Skyline Report

Farmingdale State split its pair of non-conference matches, defeating Western Connecticut State on the road by a 7-0 score on Wednesday before falling 5-2 against Hunter College on Saturday from the USTA National Tennis Center.

Freshman Martine McGowan (Port Washington, N.Y.) captured her second Skyline Rookie of the Week award on the campaign, as she went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles competition across the two-match span.

FSC will next compete Tuesday, Sept. 30, when it plays host to Baruch College in a 4:30 p.m. first serve.

FSC is back on the course on Sunday (Sept. 28), when it competes at famed Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx for the Queensborough Cross Country Invitational.

Men's Soccer (1-4-2, 0-0-2 Skyline) | Skyline Report

Behind a tying goal from freshman attacker Josue Granados (Brentwood, N.Y.), the Rams pushed upped unbeaten streak to three-consecutive matches with a 1-1, Skyline Conference tie on Saturday at Sarah Lawrence College.

After facing Division I foe Stony Brook University on the road Monday night at 6, Farmingdale State is back into Skyline action on Monday, Sept. 29, when it plays host to Yeshiva University at 5 p.m.

Women's Soccer (2-6-1, 1-0 Skyline) | Skyline Report

FSC suffered a pair of one-goal defeats against strong non-conference competition, dropping a 1-0 decision Wednesday versus SUNY New Paltz before falling at once-beaten University of Scranton on Saturday, 2-1. 

The Rams have a pair of road matches this week, including Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. start Wednesday night at Skyline foe St. Joseph's-Brooklyn from Randall's Island's Field No. 10, along with a 3 p.m. kickoff against NYU (at NJIT, Newark, N.J.) on Saturday.

Volleyball (7-3) | Skyline Report

Following a four-set defeat at the hands of FDU-Florham on Tuesday night, Farmingdale State got back to its winning ways with a straight-sets sweep Thursday night at Pratt Institute.

Skyline Conference play commences for the Rams on Tuesday night in a 6 p.m. first serve at three-time defending champion Manhattanville University, before playing host to non-conference foe Emmanuel College (Mass.) at Hofstra University, Friday night at 6.
