FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's and women's track and field teams participated in two community engagement activities last week.
On Saturday, the teams hosted a clinic and joint practice for over 50 athletes with disabilities. The student-athletes ran the participants through a typical practice, including stretching, warm-ups and drills. They also taught and demonstrated various track and field events, such as sprints, jumps and relays. The clinic provided an inclusive environment for all involved.
Earlier in the week, members of the track and field teams volunteered at Long Island Cares food bank. The student-athletes helped pack food boxes for distribution to families in need ahead of the Easter holiday.
Farmingdale State Athletics continues to be a campus leader in community service, with each team participating in at least two service efforts every year.
