FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College cross country teams opened the 2023 season at the Adelphi Panthers Invitational, with the Rams' men's side placing eighth out of 14 teams (245 pts.) and the women's contingent collecting an 11th-place total of 280 points at Bethpage State Park.
For the men's squad, freshman
Zackary Gopie (Floral Park, N.Y.) was the third-highest Division III finisher on the 8,000-meter loop, placing 20th with a time of 27:07.6. Fellow newcomer
Max Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) collected 50th-place points for the Rams with his 30:08.1 time, with junior
Patrick Vierling (Deer Park, N.Y.) checking in seven scoring places later with a 31:33.4 mark.
Farmingdale State's women's side received a team-best finish from freshman
Kaitlin Slattery (Merrick, N.Y.), who finished the 5,000-meter course in a time of 27:09.6. Senior
Gianna Scibelli (No. Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore
Nicole Pickett (Uniondale, N.Y.) rounded out the team's top-three finishers with times of 29:12.7 and 29:28.8, respectively.

Daniela Georgieva's Farmingdale State teams are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 9), when they travel to Westchester County for the Purchase College Invitational.
