NEWARK, N.J. | Led by a 15th-place, 8,000-meter time of 26:20.2 from freshman
Zackary Gopie (Floral Park, N.Y.), the Farmingdale State College men's cross country team registered an 11th-place score of 351 points Saturday afternoon in the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park. The Rams' women's team placed 22nd (529).
Gopie was the top Division III freshman finisher in the event, and was followed by 28:59.4 time from junior
Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.). Freshman
Max Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) crossed the finish line with a 29:19.7 time, while freshman
Amaan Narine (Jamaica, N.Y.) and junior
Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) rounded out the FSC scoring in times of 30:27.3 and 30:45.5, respectively.
In the 5,000-meter women's race, Farmingdale State senior
Alycia Haynes (Adams Ctr., N.Y.) paced her team with a time of 20:38.8 to register 33rd-place points in a race that featured runners from all three NCAA divisions. Sophomore
Nicole Pickett (Uniondale, N.Y.) and freshman Anna Saez finished less than nine seconds apart from one another in times of 27:09.5 and 27:18.3, respectively, while sophomore
Kimberlyn David (Mastic Beach, N.Y.; 27:59.5), freshman
Precious Akahara (Valley Stream, N.Y.; 28:02.0) and sophomore
Loamy Maldonado (Brentwood, N.Y.; 28:04.0) all finished in succession.

Daniela Georgieva's Rams teams is an Oct. 14 date at the St. Joseph's-Long Island Invitational, which will take place at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y.
