Women's Soccer Moves to 6-0 in Skyline with Victory at Purchase

Box Score

Farmingdale State - 10; Purchase - 0

PURCHASE, N.Y. | Senior forward Courtney Nelson (Ridge, N.Y.) opened the scoring with her first goal of the season less than five minutes into play Wednesday night, and was one of five players to find the back of the net as the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team moved to 6-0 in Skyline Conference play with a 10-0 decision at Purchase College.

Freshman forward Alyse Rivera (New York, N.Y.) collected her first-career hat trick and first two-assist outing in the victory for the Rams (6-8-1), while Nelson, senior Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) and freshman True Eggers (New York, N.Y.) all collected two goals apiece. FSC outshot the host Panthers (5-6, 2-5 Skyline) by a 35-5 count on the evening, including by a 24-1 margin in the opening 45 minutes en route to a 6-0 halftime edge.

Nelson and Rivera netted in the first 10 minutes of play to set the tone for Farmingdale State, with Zeblisky collecting her brace off of feeds from senior Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Rivera in the 12th and 21st minutes, respectively, to double the visitors' edge to 4-0. Rivera bagged her second goal of the contest 27 minutes in, before Eggers converted off an assist from senior Dayna Marshall (Bohemia, N.Y.) -- who registered her first two helpers of the campaign to tie a career-high -- in the 31st minute to provide for her side's lead at the interval.

Eggers (51st, from Rivera) and Nelson (54th) collected their second goals on the night nine minutes after the restart, before Rivera completed the hat trick three minutes later. Marshall then set up junior Mackenzie Sala (Brookhaven, N.Y.) for her first-career FSC goal in the 66th minute of play.

Sophomore keeper Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) made one save in the opening 45 minutes of action, while senior Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman Gabby Pinero (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded two and one saves, respectively, in splitting second-half time in the Farmingdale State cage.

Head coach Chris Roche's FSC squad will resume its suspended Skyline contest at Maritime in the 66th minute of play Friday at noon, before playing host to Senior Day on Saturday versus Old Westbury in a noon kickoff.
