Tiernan Leads Rams again at St. Joe's Invite

Kings Park, N.Y. - Junior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) led the men's team at this weekends cross country meet at Sunken Meadow State Park. The park is a nationally ranked cross country course. It is one of the hardest courses in the country and it has not changed since the 1970's. For this reason, Farmingdale State has been able to keep accurate records of the teams performances since 1978. Tiernan and senior Mary Orobona (Farmingdale, N.Y./Kellenberg) moved into the top 25 best performances by a Farmingdale runner at "the Meadow".

The men's competition had 22 teams and 139 Division II, III and JUCO runners. There were overall results and each division was also scored separatey. Sean Tiernan placed 4th overall and 1st in the division 3 scoring in the time of 27:38.8. This places Sean at #24 on the All-Time Farmingdale Sunken Meadow list. Three other Farmingdale runners set Sunken Meadow personal bests as the team placed 3rd overall and 2nd in Division III.

The women's competition had 19 teams and 158 runners. Mary Orobona placed 24th overall and 8th in Division III in a time of 22:58 to lead the women's team to a 9th place overall and 3rd in Division III. Mary's time moved her to 16th on the All-Time Farmingdale Sunken Meadow list. Four other girls ran Sunken Meadow personal bests.
