Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) scored two goals
for Farmingdale State in the 3-0 conference win over Purchase
College this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to
4-0-1 in the Skyline Conference and hold an 8-3-3 overall record.
The Panthers (6-4-1, 4-1 Skyline) suffered their first conference
loss today.
Cerverizzo scored the games opening goal on a header off the
corner kick by freshman Theresa Martorano (Commack, N.Y./Commack)
15 minutes into the contest. Freshman forward Corine Magee (Mastic
Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) would put the Rams up 2-0, five minutes
before the half. Farmingdale out shot the Panthers 9-1 in the first
half.
Cerverizzo would score her second and the games final goal at
the 64:19 mark off the pass from freshman Jamie Smith (Holtsville,
N.Y./Sachem East). The Rams held a 21-1 shot advantage and had 10
corner kicks, while Purchase did not have a single corner in
the game.
Freshman Maggie Studsrud (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner)
played 66 minutes in goal for the Rams and had one save. Junior
Stephanie Janasiewicz (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston Senior) was the
starting keeper for Purchase, playing the first half and recording
four saves, while freshman Shea Macagnone (Farmingdale,
N.Y./Farmingdale) had four saves in the second half.
The Rams travel to Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline Conference
matchup on Friday, October 9th at 4:00pm.
