USMMA Coach Omeltchenko Invitational - Weather: Sunny, 60 degrees
Kings Point, N.Y. - Freshman Jyarie Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) led the men's outdoor track team to a 4th place finish out of 19 teams on Sunday at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational hosted by Merchant Marine. The men's team scored 67.5 points to finish as the top Division III school in the meet.
Jyaire competed in three events, the Hammer (38.84m, 127' 5"), the Discus (38.46m, 12' 2") and the Shot Put (12.55m, 41' 2 1/4"). He placed 2nd, 3rd and 3rd respectively in the 3 events.
Freshman John Mahon (Bellmore, N.Y.) placed 2nd in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:49.08. This was a season best by an outstanding 24 seconds.
Freshman Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) set two personal bests in the 1500m (5:30.27) and 800m (2:39.89) and placed in 5th and 7th, respectively, in these events. Her 1500m time improves her #10 performance on the All-Time list.
The women's team scored 7 points and was 16th of 18 teams.
