Farmingdale State - 3, Mount Saint Mary - 0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20)
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted Mount Saint Mary College in their Skyline Conference opener this evening and earned a 3-0 straight-set victory.
FSC (4-12, 1-0) trailed 19-14 in the first set and after a timeout scored six straight points to take the lead, 20-19. The Rams recorded five of the next six points to capture the first set, 25-21. Farmingdale State followed with 25-22 and 25-20 victories in the second and third sets, respectively, to cap off the sweep.
Junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) finished the night with match-highs in kills (12), attacking percentage (.364) and blocks (7), while freshman outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) had seven kills, eight digs and a match-high three service aces. Senior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) totaled six kills, 13 digs and four blocks and freshman libero Kellianne Dempsey (Lake Grove, N.Y.) also had 13 digs. Freshman setter Angie Yarrow (Absecon, N.J.) picked up 24 assists in the win for Farmingdale State.
MSMC's (6-9, 0-1) Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) led the way with a team-high nine kills to go along with 15 digs, while senior outside Ally Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) tallied eight kills.
The Rams next travel to Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline Conference match on Thursday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m.
