#4 Mount Saint Vincent - 3, #1 Farmingdale State - 2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 14-25, 15-7)
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The top-seeded Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted #4 Mount Saint Vincent this evening for the Skyline Conference Semifinals and fell in five sets, 3-2. The Rams finish their season 20-8 overall, while the Dolphins improve to 18-13.
After falling behind 2-1, FSC won the fourth set, 25-14, to force a deciding fifth set.
Tied 1-1 in set five, sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y) recorded three straight kills to put Farmingdale State ahead, 4-1. Mount Saint Vincent would quickly counter with six straight points as they took a three-point advantage, 7-4.
On the ensuing serve, another kill by Hande cut the Rams deficit to just two, 7-5, but the Dolphins would record the game's next three points to take a commanding 10-5 lead.
With the Dolphins ahead 14-7, senior setter Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) produced the game-winning kill as Mount Saint Vincent captured the fifth set, 15-7, and the match, 3-2.
Hande totaled a season-high 26 kills, along with nine digs and four blocks, while junior setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 39 assists and 16 digs for the Rams. FSC senior middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) tallied 11 kills and five solo blocks in the loss.
The Dolphins were led by Henderson's 48 assists and 11 digs and sophomore outside Tara Maloney's (Williston Park, N.Y.) 30 digs and 18 kills.
Mount Saint Vincent has advanced to the Skyline Conference Finals and will travel to #2 Merchant Marine on Saturday, November 4th.
