Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State athletic department is pleased to announce that David Mayerson has been named the Head Women's Volleyball Coach.
Mayerson served for five seasons as the Head Varsity Coach at Lawrence High School as well as the Head Middle School Coach at Lawrence.
A former student-athlete and CUNY All-Star at Brooklyn College, David was on the men's volleyball team for three seasons as a setter and outside hitter. In his senior season, he finished with 500 assists, 43 aces and was named the Most Outstanding Volleyball player. He was also was a recipient of the Tracy Ohrman Award, which is given to one male and one female student-athlete that exemplify personal strength and perseverance.
In high school, David was a three-sport athlete, competing in volleyball, soccer and basketball. He competed in the USA Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships from 2002-04 and won a Bronze medal in 2003. He served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for his high school team while in college.
Mayerson graduated from Brooklyn College in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education & Adaptive Physical Education. He received his Master's Degree in School Health Education from Adelphi in 2016.
Mayerson replaces Patric Santiago, who coached the team for the past seven seasons and is now coaching at Iona College.
