Rams Close 2016 at the Bill Ward Invite


Melville, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track team competed at the St. John's "Bill Ward" Invitational on Thursday, December 8th at St. Anthony's High School. The Rams had six first place finishes, an ECAC qualifier and five student-athletes improved their marks in the All-Time record books.

Senior Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) placed 2nd in Shot Put with a mark of 11.41m (37' 5.25"). This improved her previous mark by 2' 3.25" and moved her to #5 on the FSC All-Time list. She also placed 3rd in the Weight Throw at 14.70m (48' 2.75") which qualifies her for ECAC's and ranks her at 20th in the Nation for this event.

In the men's throwing events, junior Stephen Schmidt (Levittown, N.Y.) won both the Shot Put and Weight Throw. In the Shot, he posted a mark of 12.86 (42' 2.25"). In the Weight Throw, he moved to #10 All-Time at 14.35m (47' 1").

Freshman Jason Meyler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had two 4th place finishes in the 60m and 200m. His 60m time of 7.13 moved him to #3 All-Time.

Freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) won the 3000m with a time of 9:38.24, sophomore Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) won the 400m in 51.56 and senior Bryan Giordano (Centereach, N.Y.) won the Pole Vault, clearing 4.1m (13' 5.25").

Women's 800m - Nicole Franz, 4th place, 2:31.37

Women's Mile - Erin Lettieri, 4th place, 6:01.58, #10 on All-Time list

Men's Mile - Ismael Falcon, 4th place, 4:46.81

Men's 4x400m Relay - Giordano, Sellitto, Zapata, Santa, 4th place, 3:44.23

Men's Triple Jump - Wendell Brand, 5th place, 12.87m (42' 2.75")

 

The next meet for the Rams will be in 2017 when they travel to the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex on Friday, January 6th for the Wagner College Invitational.
