Rams Roll to Win over NYU-Poly

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team improved to 9-7 overall, 4-2 in the Skyline with a win over NYU-Poly (2-9-1, 1-5). The Rams now travel to face Maritime on Thursday, October 18th at 5:00 p.m.

In the first, Farmingdale held a 4-0 lead on goals from senior midfielder Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Melissa Lijo (Flushing, N.Y.), junior defender Stephanie Millien (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.).

The second half saw seven more goals as Farmingdale State rolled to the 11-0 win. Freshman forward Rachael Trela (Centereach, N.Y.) scored two goals, while other tallies came from Merrill, sophomore defender Andrea Kiefer (Centereach, N.Y.), freshman forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), freshman forward Shannon Murphy (North Babylon, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Laura Rueda (Bayside, N.Y.).

NYU-Poly's senior goalkeeper Catherine Mistretta (Bellmore, N.Y.) made 18 saves in defeat.
