Rams Drop Hard Fought Loss

Rams Drop Hard Fought Loss

Scranton - 1, Farmingdale State - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. - A late goal by Scranton sophomore forward Tina Cognetti (Westfield, N.J./Wesfield) in the 77th minute of play would hold as the game-winning goal, as the Rams dropped a hard fought 1-0 loss to the Royals today in Farmingdale, N.Y.

After a scoreless first half, the Rams controlled the offensive play, recording 11 shots. But Cognetti's tally at 77:34 for Scranton would be the deciding factor. Junior midfielder Caroline Corasaniti (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was awarded the assist on the goal, while junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Byrne (East Rutherford, N.J./IHA) made six saves for the Royals in her shutout victory.

Farmingdale State's freshman goalkeeper Kristi Wilken (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) made two saves in defeat.

The Rams will host Manhattanville on Tuesday, September 8th at 4:00 p.m.
