Farmingdale, NY – Freshman forward Christina Cascio (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) scored her second hat trick of the season today to lead Farmingdale past Skyline opponent Mount Saint Vincent 3-0 in a Skyline women's soccer game in Farmingdale, NY. The Rams improved to 8-6-2 overall and 3-3 in the Skyline with the win, while the Dolphins dropped to 6-5-1, 2-4-1 in the conference.
Cascio and freshman forward Tricia Pickford (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) connected on two goals, including the game-winner 11:30 into the first half when Pickford crossed the ball in front from the right side. The other goal from Cascio came on a corner play by freshman midfielder Amanda Biondi (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and junior defender Kaitlin O'Brien (East Islip, NY/East Islip). Cascio's goal total this season moves to 14, placing her atop the conference standings.
The tough Farmingdale backfield made up of senior Jessica Graziano (Levittown, NY/Division) and juniors Angela Barea (Levittown, NY/Island Trees), Elizabeth Essig (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) and Kaitlin O'Brien held Mount Saint Vincent to just three shots and no corner kicks. The Rams freshman goalkeeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) made one save in her sixth shutout of the season.
Mount Saint Vincent's junior goalkeeper Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY/Oceanside) made 11 saves in defeat.
Farmingdale has two games remaining in the regular season and stand in 5th place in the Skyline. They will face St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, NY on October 25th at 3:00pm for their final conference game, where they will face the Golden Eagles and former teammate Lisa Gagliardo.
