Farmingdale, NY The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell to 0-1 today, dropping their home and season opening game, 15-3, against the University of Redlands (Calif.). Redlands scored the first 11 goals of the game, before the Rams got their opening day jitters out and broke up the shutout in the second half. Redlands improved to 8-2 overall with the win.
Redlands scoring was led by freshman attacker Whitney Hume (Bainbridge Island, WA/Bainbridge) with four goals and senior midfielder Lydia Ramsey (Indianola, QA/North Kitsap) with three goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Feig (Hingham, MA/Thayer Academy) got the win with six saves.
The Rams were led by freshman midfielder Nicole Brett (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) with seven ground balls and three draw controls. Two junior attackers scored the goals for Farmingdale, Natalie Budinich (East Northport, NY/Commack) finished with two goals and Gina Shore (Holbrook, NY/Sachem) scored on a free position shot. Freshman midfielders Sam Bidermann (Merrick, NY/Mepham) and Samantha Boeger (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) both finished with five ground balls. Sophomore goalkeeper Janine Forman (N. Massapequa, NY/Plainedge) stopped 14 shots in defeat.
Farmingdale State hosts Stevens on Wednesday, March 22nd at 3:30pm for their first Skyline Conference game.
