Rams Fall to Amherst in Non-Conference Matchup

#3 Amherst College - 84, Farmingdale State - 51

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell 84-51 to the third ranked team in the nation Amherst College this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Lord Jeffs (16-1) shot 49% from the field and recorded assists on 24 of their 33 field goals.

At halftime, Amherst held a 46-22 advantage and shot 55% from the field. Junior guard Kim Fiorentino (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) led the Lord Jeffs with nine points, while senior guard Juanita Chappel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) and junior guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y.Westbury) each scored eight points for Farmingdale State (10-5).

In the second half, the Rams were outscored 38-29 and eventually fell 84-51. Sophomore guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y./Roosevelt) scored a team-high 13 points for the Rams, while Chappel finished with 12.

Amherst was led by senior guard Jaclyn Daigneault (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) who shot 11-for-14 from the field scoring a game-high 24 points. Junior guard Caroline Stedman (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) pitched in with 12 points and four assists and Shannon Finucane (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) had a game-high five assists for the Lord Jeffs.

Farmingdale State next will travel to The Sage Colleges for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, January 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
