Rams Defeat Yeshiva in Final Game of 2010

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team (5-3, 3-1) closed out the first half of the 2010-11 season with a 95-40 victory over Skyline opponent Yeshiva University (1-9, 0-7) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. Farmingdale State had four players in double figures.
In the first half, the Rams led 49-23, shooting 59-percent from the floor, as junior guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) scored 14 points (7-of-9) and junior guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) had nine points and three rebounds. For the Maccabees, senior guard Shir Fuchs (Herzilyah, Israel/Hayovel) led with nine points.
The Rams shot 52-percent in the second and Hooks would finish with a game-high 21 points, while Koch finished with 17. Junior forward Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) scored 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Siohban Purvis (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville) had 10 points. Senior guard Jasmine Davis (Freeport, N.Y./Baldwin) dished out a game-high nine assists.
For Yeshiva, senior center Lauren Kempin (Fair Lawn, N.J./Frisch) blocked a game-high five shots with six points, four rebounds and three assists. Fuchs finished with a team-high 13 points.
Farmingdale State is now on holiday break and will open the second half of the schedule on January 4th at home against the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 6:00 p.m.
