Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) was named the Skyline
Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball, for the
fourth time this season, on Monday, February 23rd.
Blakney had an incredible individual week for Farmingdale State
despite two close losses. Blakney averaged 37.5 points, 12.0
rebounds, 7.0 steals, 4.0 blocks and 3.0 assists while nursing a
sore knee. She also shot 50 percent from the floor (24-for-48) and
83.3 percent from the line (20-for-24). In a 102-98 loss to Mount
Saint Vincent, she recorded her second triple-double with a
school-record 50 points along with 15 rebounds, 10 steals, five
blocks and four assists. In her 50 point effort, she broke her own
record of 49, which was set last week, and also sank 17-of-21 free
throws, setting another school record for free throws made in a
game.
