Rams Get a Taste of Division I Play
Rutgers - 85, Farmingdale State - 25
Piscataway, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's
basketball team (14-6) took the court against Division I Rutgers
University (14-9) on Wednesday night at the Louis Brown Athletic
Center in Piscataway, N.J. The Rams got an experience to be
remembered as they took on a tough Rutgers squad, played in a
Division I arena and against Hall of Fame Rutgers Head Coach, C.
Vivian Stringer.
Farmingdale State trailed 52-15 at the half, but held the Scarlet Knights to 33 points in the second half for a final score of 85-25. The Rams scored 13 of their 25 points off turnovers, forcing a total of 21 turnovers on the night.
Farmingdale junior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) led the team with 11 points, two steals and one block. Freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) finished with seven points, junior guard Tiffara Steward (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) had three points, sophomore guard Janel Monah (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) and freshman forward Tiara Smith (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) each registered two points.
The Rams will host conference opponent St. Joseph's tomorrow night, Thursday, February 12th at 6:00 p.m.
