Rams Win Seventh Straight
Farmingdale State - 70, St. Joseph's - 64
Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team won their seventh straight game on Thursday night, defeating conference opponent St. Joseph's, 70-64. After starting the season with three losses, the Rams are now 7-3 overall and 5-0 in Skyline play. The Golden Eagles fell to 1-10, 1-3 with the loss.
Farmingdale junior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker), who is approaching her 1,000th career point, led the Rams with 23 points, nine steals, six assists and two blocks. Blakney needs 16 more points to reach this mark. Freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) finished with 20 points, seven steals and six rebounds for the night.
For St. Joseph's, Dana Carney was the high scorer with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Trish McMahon had 17 points and Carissa Pirotta had 15 points and six assists.
The Rams will play another conference game against the defending Skyline Champions, Mount Saint Mary College, in Newburgh, N.Y. on Saturday, January 10th at 3:00 p.m.
