Rams End First Semester on High Note
Farmingdale State - 78, Yeshiva - 57
New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team (5-3, 3-0) completed the first half of their season with a 78-57 victory over Yeshiva University (1-9, 0-8) on Thursday night. The Rams led from the opening tip-off and held a 15-point lead at the break. Three Farmingdale players scored in double figures, led by junior guard Kim Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker), who had a double-double and team-high 17 points and adding 10 steals.
Freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) scored 16 and added nine rebounds for the Rams, while junior forward Gabrielle Green (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) chipped in with 13 points.
Yeshiva's junior center Lauren Kempin (Fairlawn, N.J./Frisch) had 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in the loss. Sophomore guard Avigail Varnai (Skokie, Ill./ICJA) finished with a team-high 14 points.
The Rams will return to action after the holiday break in a Skyline Conference double-header at home against Old Westbury on Tuesday, January 6th at 6:00 p.m., the men's game will follow.
