Rams Fall to Top-Ranked Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team (12-5, 8-3) fell to top-ranked Mount Saint Mary College today in a 70-57 loss. The Blue Knights stand alone in first place in the Skyline with a 14-3, 7-1 record, while the Rams drop to third place in the conference.

Farmingdale only trailed by four at halftime, 33-29, after holding Mount Saint Mary to just 30-percent shooting, but the Blue Knights came out in the second and shot 52-percent en route to the 13-point conference victory. The Rams struggled from three point range today (0-for-13), as well as at the free-throw line (13-of-24).

For Farmingdale, junior center Mercedes Miller (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) led with 16 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Rochelle Clark (Bellport, NY/Bellport) contributed nine points and seven steals. Freshman guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker) finished with 11 points and junior guard Dankery Perez (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) totaled 10 points.

Mount Saint Mary senior Lasheena Brown registered a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds on the day. Vanessa Lawson finished with a game-high 19 points and Chantel Anthony totaled 15 points.

The Rams will host Stevens (15-4,8-2) on Tuesday, January 30th in a Skyline Conference game at 7:00pm.
