Rams Win Pepsi Invitational over Morrisville State

Troy, NY The Farmingdale State women's basketball team defeated Morrisville State 74-70 today in the Championship Game of the Pepsi Invitational hosted by Russell Sage College. Farmingdale went on a 9-2 run to start the first half and controlled the lead for the remainder of the game.

Leading for Farmingdale was Tournament MVP junior center Mercedes Miller (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) with 20 points and seven rebounds. All-tournament selection junior guard Christine Daley (Elmont, NY/Elmont) chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Dankery Perez (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) registered 18 points, including 12-of-13 from the free thrown line, along with seven assists and three steals. Senior guard Rochelle Clark (Bellport, NY/Bellport) was the fourth Ram in double figures with 11 points, seven steals and four assists.

Morrisville was led by Stacey Hardnett with 13 points and 23 rebounds. Shanee Pierce contributed 21 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.
