Newburgh, NY - The #3-seeded Rams (17-9) fell 59-57 to the defending Skyline champs, Mount Saint Mary College (25-3), today in the Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Finals in Newburgh, NY. Farmingdale State trailed by eight points and the half, but chipped away throughout the second and held the lead, 49-48, for the first time all game after a Mercedes Miller (New York, NY/Manhattan Center) free-throw with 7:48 remaining in the game. The Blue Knights' Vanessa Lawson answered back with a jumper to steal the lead again, before Rochelle Clark (Bellport, NY/Bellport) and Melissa Harry (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) hit the next four free-throws to give the Rams a three-point cushion and their largest lead of the day - 53-50 - with 3:42 left on the clock.

A controversial holding call against Farmingdale State with a minute and a half remaining awarded Mount Saint Mary a basket and a free-throw to tie the score at 53 all. The Mount took another quick lead before Harry sank a lay-up and foul shot for a two-point Farmingdale lead with 37 seconds to go. Jackie Markert responded with a game-tying shot and the game-winning free-throw for Mount Saint Mary with 25 seconds remaining and the score 58-57.

Harry finished with game-highs of 22 points and 18 boards for the Rams, while Miller tallied 17 points and eight boards.

Lasheena Brown led Mount Saint Mary with 20 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Lawson scored 15 points and Stacy Shultz finished with 14 points, four assists and five steals.

Mount Saint Mary receives the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while the Rams now hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA's or an ECAC bid to continue their season.
