Farmingdale State Dominates WIAC Awards

The Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) awards were released on March 8th, 2005 and three Farmingdale State student-athletes and the head coach were honored with awards. Senior Sharon Billips (Brooklyn, NY/John Jay) was named the WIAC Conference MVP after finishing the conference games averaging 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 blocks per game. Freshman I’shawna West (Hempstead, NY/Hempstead) was named WIAC Rookie of the Year after finishing her rookie season averaging 17.3 points and 4.0 rebounds. Freshman Dankery Perez (Manhattan, NY/Manhattan Center) was named to the WIAC Second Team as she averaged team-highs of 18 steals (4.5 per game) and 21 assists (5.3 per game) in WIAC matches, along with 7.0 points per game. Coach Chris Mooney was named the WIAC Coach of the Year as he led the Rams to a 4-0 WIAC record and their third consecutive WIAC Championship.
