The School of Business is now offering a new bachelor degree concentration in Sports Management Technology. This degree combines business and technology, liberal arts, athletics and marketing. The Sports Management Technology option prepares students to work in the growing sports industry at the professional, recreational, and collegiate levels. With its emphasis on technology, it is the only such program available on Long Island.
Career opportunities for sports management students are varied. Students can work within college and university athletic departments, professional sports organizations, athletic clubs and sports complexes, corporate sports organizations, athletic equipment design companies and parks and recreation facilities.
The unique combination of academic excellence and outstanding sports facilities makes Farmingdale State an ideal choice for students wishing to pursue an option in Sports Management Technology. The College has some of the finest sports facilities in the area that will be incorporated into the proposed program. The indoor facility includes a 34,000 square foot rubber tartan gymnasium floor, a deck level indoor swimming pool, a ten-lap-to-the-mile track, racquetball courts, squash courts, a new fitness center, and one of the most up-to-date training room facilities in the country. The outdoor facilities include twelve all-weather tennis courts, a quarter mile all-weather outdoor track, a 20-station golf driving range, lacrosse/soccer fields, a softball field and a baseball field. The College is currently constructing a new Baseball Stadium which will be completed by May of 2005.
