Softball Tallies Six All-Conference Selections; Smith Named Pitcher of the Year


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference's nine softball head coaches have voted on this year's all-conference team and Farmingdale State sophomore Madeleine Smith (San Diego, Calif.) was named the Pitcher of the Year.

Along with Smith, freshman second baseman Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.), senior third baseman Sierra Cardenales (Patchogue, N.Y.) and freshman center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) were named to the First Team, while both sophomore left fielder Lexie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) and senior pitcher Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) were tabbed Second Team All-Conference.

Smith leads FSC in wins (9), ERA (2.02), complete games (11), shutouts (4), saves (1), innings pitched (104), strikeouts (32) and opponents' batting average (.240). She is the Skyline-leader in ERA, wins and saves and is third for both innings pitched and opponents' batting average. Smith is 11th in Division III for walks allowed per 7-innings (0.61) and 67th in shutouts. 

Prescia is batting .351 and leads the team in triples (3), total bases (49) and slugging percentage (.521), ranks second in on-base percentage (.430), hits (33) and home runs (1) and third for runs scored (21) and doubles (7). She leads the Skyline in sacrifice bunts with seven and ranks fifth in triples and eighth in slugging percentage.

Cardenales is hitting a team-best .372 and ranks second on Farmingdale State in doubles (8) and third for hits (21), RBI's (22) and on-base percentage (.456). In the conference, Cardenales is seventh in RBI's, eighth in doubles and 10th for batting average.

Rivera leads the Rams runs scored (28), triples (3), stolen bases (8) and on-base percentage (.439), is second in slugging percentage (.490) and home runs (1) and third for hits (32) and total bases (47). She is fourth in the Skyline in runs scored, fifth for triples and 10th in stolen bases. 

L. Collard has drawn a team-high 20 walks this season and ranks second in runs (22), home runs (1) and stolen bases (5).

J. Collard has recorded seven wins on the mound with a 2.56 earned run average and team-leading 32 strikeouts. In the conference, J.Collard ranks fourth in ERA, sixth in wins and 10th in opponents' batting average. J. Collard is also 40th in the Nation for total walks allowed.
