Rams Eliminated from Playoffs with Loss to Sage

#2 Sage - 5, #5 Farmingdale State - 2

Newburgh, N.Y. - Fifth-seeded Farmingdale State fell, 5-2, to #2 Sage on Saturday in the Skyline Softball Championship held at Mount Saint Mary College. The Rams have been eliminated and finish the year with a record of 15-18.

In the top of the second, Sage (26-14) took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single to left field from senior center fielder Jennifer Onwe (Tarrytown, N.Y.) which scored Alexa Silk (Freehold, N.Y.).

FSC junior left fielder Allison Dailey (Commack, N.Y.) led off the bottom of the third with a walk and later advanced to third base. With two outs, an RBI fielders choice by junior designated player Marietta Silliman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) scored Dailey and evened the score at 1-1.

The Gators regained the lead in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from junior shortstop Jessica Adams (Nassau, N.Y.).

In the top of the sixth, Sage used an RBI double from Kiersten Duncan (Millerton, N.Y.) and an Allison Ford (Mechanicville, N.Y.) RBI single to take a 4-1 lead.

The Rams cut the deficit to 4-2 after Silliman scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth.

After Sage plated one run in the seventh, Farmingdale State managed only one hit in the bottom of the inning as they fell, 5-2.

Senior catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) and freshman shortstop Christina Rayfield (Commack, N.Y.) recorded the only two hits for FSC in the game.

The Gators were led by Silk who was 3-for-4 at the plate with a game-high three runs scored.
