2014 Softball Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The softball team captured their fourth straight Skyline Conference title after defeating Sage 10-0 in the championship game behind Taylor Webb's (West Babylon, N.Y.) no-hitter. The Rams lost in the NCAA Regionals and finished the year with a 24-14 record.

Farmingdale State notched five First Team All-Conference players: sophomore catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.), senior shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.), freshman third baseman Andrea Klarman (Medford, N.Y.), junior outfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) and freshman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) who was named the Skyline Rookie of the Year.

Anderson was the team-leader in nine categories: batting average (.480), hits (61), runs (48), doubles (18), triples (4), total bases (96), slugging percentage (.756), on-base percentage (.529) and stolen bases (6). Klarman batted .429 this season with a team-high four home runs and 25 RBI, while Mongiello (.358 avg.) totaled 43 hits including 16 doubles and 33 runs batted in.

Michalowski, who was named the ECAC Metro Rookie of the Year, batted .419 with 10 doubles, three home runs and held a .624 slugging percentage. Genova solidified the middle infield for Farmingdale State as she recorded a team-leading 76 assists.

Webb and Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) won 13 and nine games, respectively. Webb had 15 complete games including four shutouts in 17 starts with a 4.04 earned run average and Tedeschi posted a 3.72 ERA in sixteen starts this season.

Anderson was also named a First Team ECAC All-Star, while Mongiello earned Second Team honors.

The Rams graduated two seniors this year.
