Tedeschi Tosses Shutout in Split at Sage

Troy, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team split with Skyline opponent The Sage Colleges today at Robison Field in Troy, N.Y. The Rams fell in game one, 11-7, and then notched a 6-0 win in game two to improve to 13-11, 6-4 in conference play. The Gators now stand at 14-10 overall, 3-3 in the Skyline.
Trailing 8-2 after five innings in game two, Farmingdale State scored five runs off five hits and two errors in the top of the sixth to cut the Sage lead to 8-7. In the bottom of the inning with one out and two runners on, Gators sophomore pitcher/dh Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) homered to left field to give her team the 11-7 advantage and eventual win.
In game two, Farmingdale State led 3-0 after two innings, before five hits in the sixth pushed the lead to 6-0. Junior pitcher Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) allowed just four hits and struck out two, while tossing her first shutout of the season. Junior centerfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI's.
The Rams will host NYU-Poly on Sunday, April 13th at Noon in another Skyline Conference doubleheader.
